So, who are we?
Dr. Keisha A. Wizzart, PhD CEO/Founder
By age 21, Dr. Keisha Wizzart wrote, vocally arranged, and released her first album, “True Confessions,” which created a buzz throughout the DMV area. Her edgy yet sultry style of writing wove a bridge of opportunity to work with mainstream recording labels and local artists, where she was able to dive into a new lane of creativity—service providing.
Dr. Wizzart, who ghostwrites for several recording artists, has since added “Bestselling Author” and “Publisher” to her list of credentials. In 2011, her short story “Dying to be a Star” was published in Nikki Turner’s anthology, Street Chronicles: A Woman’s Work, which became a New York Times Bestseller. In 2014, she launched ExSTARdinary Publishing and co-published an anthology, Diary of a Boss Chic. Since then, she has released the three-part Jamaican Me Go Crazy series, which has advanced the urban fiction genre and solidified her as a credible force in the game.
In addition to writing, Dr. Wizzart has a deep passion for human services and mental wellness. Witnessing the financial instabilities and physical and mental health disparities amongst community members firsthand, she and her family launched the nonprofit Preserving Our Tomorrow to provide food, diapers, clothes, blankets, winter jackets, and other essentials to individuals living in impoverished conditions. In 2021, Dr. Wizzart merged these two passions and launched Write 4 My Soul, an expressive writing facilitation organization with a mission to combat mental health disparities in low-income communities using authorship and literary expression. In 2022, Dr. Wizzart released the Write 4 My Soul Expressive Writing and Inspirational Journal, which is composed of expressive writing quotes, prompts, and worksheets to help individuals navigate through a journey of self-exploration and mental wellness. Dr. Wizzart also serves on the Jamaican Association of Maryland as Director of Human Services and Community Engagement.
Of all her accomplishments, Dr. Wizzart considers her greatest achievement is being the mother of two energetic and hilarious sons, Kaydin and Kyrin. Watching them grow into young men taught her how to appreciate the present, live in the moment, and find value in the simplicity of authenticity, which are also qualities she developed from expressive writing.
When asked what makes your “Write 4 My Soul” program unique, Dr. Wizzart answered, “We put our client’s artistic expression at the forefront of our sessions, not their mental health issues. So, when the writing process begins, it’s not forced or micromanaged. The content is produced from the client’s unique voice and reality, so the outcome is always raw, authentic, and relatable.”
